The following is designed to be supporting information for Elected Officers and Policy Makers of public bodies in Wales.
Its aim is to help people make informed choices and implement best practice when carrying out their responsibilities towards disabled people and their associates: these include legal responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010, the Specific Public Sector Duty for Wales applying to public bodies in Wales and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Disabled People ratified by the UK Government in 2009. It uses as its basis the Social Model of Disability as outlined here, and formally adopted by the Welsh Government.
