In this course you will recognise the need to protect the patient/service users and staff from the risk of healthcare associated infection (HCAI), understand the importance and application of infection prevention and control practices e.g. hand hygiene, clean environments and equipment, recognise how to maintain your health and protect yourself from occupational exposure to infection and have an understanding of how to recognise increased incidence and outbreaks of infection

This course will enable you to know your personal responsibility for safety, be aware of the danger of fire and which elements cause fires to start, recognise the fire safety features and how to use them, know the correct procedures for raising the alarm and reporting a fire, have and understanding of the principles of evacuation and to be familiar with the different types of fire extinguishers and their use.
